Frequently Asked Questions | Students

How will participants prepare the cases?

Participants will receive a competition case packet at least a month before the competition, and teams will have access to market data to test their algorithms. Student teams will be expected to work on the cases ahead of the competition; some cases will be run live on the day of the competition and others will be asynchronous.

Which schools will attend?

The UChicago Financial Markets Program partners with sponsoring employers to target top-tier schools from every part of the country. Teams of 3-4 students from any university are welcome to apply. As a reminder, the competition is open to undergraduate students only. Priority may be given to freshmen and sophomore applicants.

What opportunities will participants have to interact with sponsoring firms and learn about careers in trading?

Participants will have several opportunities to interact with sponsoring firms throughout the weekend. Not only is this a great way to put your trading knowledge into practice, but it is also a weekend of networking with top trading and financial services firms from around the country.

The platinum sponsor will host a kick-off event on Friday afternoon. Throughout the day on Saturday participants will have direct opportunities to meet recruiters, traders, and software engineers from top employers at our Trading Competition career fair and networking events.
